At the last CPHOA meeting, 4/24/07, Mayor Cantwell spoke about the benefits of ending Lawrence Utilities as being the provider of water and sewage for Lawrence. The City Council has had five [5] months to act on the proposal with a deadline of 6/15/07 for final action. As of this writing they have only retained a lawyer and a CPA. By law the Common Council must have the Lawrence Utilities Company appraised before it can be sold.
The homeowners expressed their desire to ask everyone else to write or e-mail their city council person to act.
One good piece of news is that the Utility Service Board of Lawrence recommended that the Common Council proceed with having an appraiser examine Lawrence Utilities.
